Mercedes Benz S-ClassGerman machinery is world wide famous for its creative design and exclusive technology. That’s why German carmakers always pride themselves on being at the top edge of latest technology of car making; therefore it has been a little bit of an embarrassment when a decade after Toyota launched the Prius, a hybrid electric car on the market. Moreover Honda is going to launch a new hybrid car. Those cars are too small, funny-looking and much more economy than style though those cars are oil efficiencies. On the other hand, with oil economy and environmental impact nowadays a key concern for well-heeled car buyers, to honor of those buyers luxury automaker Mercedes is going to involve in hybrid race with its own style.

Mercedes-Benz will launch its environment friendly first hybrid car, ML450 in April 2009. The new hybrid is large 4×4 and it will emit only 185g/km of CO2. The new hybrid power train is being developed and designed by Mercedes-Benz, BMW and GM collectively. It is illustrated as a “two-mode” hybrid that different the Toyota or Honda systems offers economy rate with fuel efficiency and emission benefits at higher speeds rather than just in urban scenarios. On the other hand, Mercedes’ second hybrid car, S400, is large than any other hybrid, will come in late 2009 or early 2010 in world market. The S-class hybrid claims it will emit only 154g/km of CO2 compared with the existing diesel’s 220g/km. It will run at 30 miles per gallon, therefore, the new one will roughly double the mileage of the non-hybrid luxury S-class sedan. Mercedes officials argue that this large hybrid car is more convenient for their consumers, because there is an abundance space to pack for vacations or any other baggage.

The company does not tag any price for the new S-class, but one official informed an estimate premium of it and that is less than €10,000, or $14,000. And this prize would be raised depending on option. Some expert’s hope this hybrid will contribute in world economy when time and demand are changing with rising fuel costs.
