The Chevrolet Cruze - Small but High price
General Motors Corporation announced on Monday 15 September, its latest global small car is going to hit in the U.S. auto market in mid-2010. GM is expecting the new one to fetch a healthier price than Honda and Toyota earn for their new small cars. The new car name officially revealed last Monday in Detroit on the eve of GM’s 100th anniversary. It is recognized as The Chevrolet Cruze and the car is considered as a big step up for the all side and in fuel economy to compare with its predecessor such as the Chevrolet Cobalt. The company is banking on immense step up in cost and it struggles to make up for profits lost when the U.S. auto market shifted swiftly from more beneficial trucks and sport utility vehicles (SUVs) to more proficient smaller models.
On the other hand, GM would not disclose the pricing of the Cruze, but Chevrolet general manager Ed Peper said GM requirements to achieve more profit per vehicle than its other major Japanese competitors such as Honda Motor Company, Ford Motor Company and Toyota Motor Corporation. He also expected that new car prices will go up in general because the new vehicles include more features than others have in the past. He also added that the car will be more fuel economy than others such as it will run roughly 40 miles per gallon with just a 1.4-liter gasoline engine. Moreover it will be larger than the existing Cobalt, Toyota Corolla, Ford Focus, and Honda Civic.
